The Mechanism of Action Behind IPL Machines for Results-Driven, Non-Invasive Medi-Aesthetic Treatments

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology works by emitting broad-spectrum light that is selectively absorbed by the skin.

This light energy is converted into heat, targeting specific concerns such as hair follicles, pigmentation, redness, and acne—without harming surrounding tissue. The result is safe, effective treatment with visible results and minimal downtime.

Permanent Hair Removal

LUX Series IPL Hair Removal treatments use 640nm, 690nm and 750nm wavelengths of light to target the pigment (melanin) within the hair follicle, delivering effective and long-lasting hair reduction.

The light energy is absorbed and converted into heat, creating thermal damage that disrupts or destroys the follicle. This process delays regrowth or permanently reduces the number of active hair follicles—making it ideal for clients seeking hair-free skin.

Treatments are quick, comfortable, and suitable for most body areas. A series of sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is typically recommended to align with the hair growth cycle.

IPL Vascular Therapy

LUX Series IPL Vascular Therapy treatments use 530nm and 560nm wavelengths to safely target and collapse superficial blood vessels, helping to visibly reduce redness, rosacea, broken capillaries, and facial veins.

The light energy is absorbed by haemoglobin within the vessels, generating heat that causes them to break down while leaving surrounding skin unaffected. The result is a more even complexion with reduced visible redness—ideal for clients with vascular concerns.

Most clients see a noticeable improvement within 2 treatments, though some may require more depending on their vascular concern.

IPL Acne Management

LUX Series IPL Acne Management treatments use a 420nm wavelength to target acne-causing bacteria (C. acnes) and reduce inflammation within the skin.

The light energy destroys the bacteria while also promoting healing and regulating sebum production. The result is visibly clearer, calmer skin with a noticeable reduction in breakouts—making it ideal for clients with mild to moderate acne. Most clients see significant improvement within 4–6 treatments.

IPL Acne Management treatments should be spaced approximately 1 – 2 weeks apart to allow the skin’s natural regeneration cycle to play its part in the treatment process.

IPL Photo Rejuvenation

LUX Series IPL Photo Rejuvenation treatments use a 590nm wavelength to target common signs of ageing and uneven skin tone for a clearer, more radiant complexion.

The light energy is absorbed by water and pigment in the skin, gently heating the tissue to stimulate fibroblast activity and boost collagen and elastin production. This helps to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, and enlarged pores—leaving an appearance of skin that is visibly smoother, firmer, and more youthful.

Most clients notice a visible improvement after just a few sessions, with optimal results achieved over 4–6 treatments spaced 2–4 weeks apart.

Pigmentation Correction

LUX Series IPL Pigmentation Correction treatments use 530nm and 560nm wavelengths to break down excess melanin in the skin, helping to visibly reduce age spots, sun damage, freckles, and uneven skin tone.

The IPL light is absorbed by pigmented lesions, creating heat that shatters the excess melanin without harming surrounding tissue. Over time, the treated pigment darkens and flakes off, revealing a clearer, more even complexion.

Most clients see a noticeable improvement after as little as 1-2 treatments, spaced 2–3 weeks apart, depending on the depth and density of pigmentation.
